A little more about psychotherapy and what you can expect:

You may have come across our page because you have recognized a need within yourself.

You may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, or low self-worth. Perhaps you need help dealing with the stresses in your life. You could be going through life changes and adjustments that you would like to navigate and make sense of. You may need to process a loss that you are grieving or a trauma you have survived. Perhaps you have noticed your relationships and areas of life have been impacted. Maybe you are looking to embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. Through psychotherapy, your psychologist will journey with you in the pursuit of self-awareness and healing.

In sessions we promote gaining insight into yourself and processing emotions linked to past and present experiences. We believe that to be able to connect meaningfully with others, we need to first connect with ourselves. With your psychologist you will work to explore current difficulties and your psychologist will provide you with valuable tools to cope with life’s obstacles. In your first session you and your psychologist will discuss your needs and treatment goals to assist in personalising your therapeutic experience. Everyone's needs and therapeutic goals are unique, as well as the duration of therapy (where some people prefer short term therapy, and others prefer long term therapy).

Seeking therapy can be daunting, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about therapy and the therapeutic process.

Addiction / Substance Use Disorder

Substance Use Disorder includes addiction to alcohol, drugs or taking medication in ways that were not prescribed.

Substance Use Disorder leads to changes in the brain and behaviour, where the person is unable to control the use of the substance, despite the problems it causes in their life. Eventually the person starts to neglect their daily life activities and responsibilities.

Substance Use Disorder is a family illness as it impacts the person’s loved ones as well. Sessions are also available for people who have a loved one struggling with addiction.

You may seek therapy to explore whether you have a Substance Use Disorder, or to find tools to assist you.
